questionnaire
The images below are screen grabs from the survey monkey questionnaire, I sent out using my social media accounts.
I had a response of 62 participants, so a small amount, but for the purpose of the questionnaire, which was questioning recycling habits it was enough.
I was surprised at the amount of people who said they washed their waste before putting it in the recycling bin, this doesn’t match my findings of verbal questioning, where people admitted freely that they thought washing took place at the collection service.
The negative plastics media campaign demonizing packaging, has worked. the average consumer according to this survey believes that packaging is the main cause of ocean plastics. The ignorance towards other reasons for ocean plastics is concerning.
I’m pleased that the media campaign against packaging is positively affecting consumer choice.
I belive for this reason packaging will change to sustainable options because purchases of products with excess packaging will become less and therefore force industry change.
Consumers need to force change with the power of choosing not to purchase.
