Visit to Parkside.

I took some embarrassingly bad prototype trays, surprisingly to me Mark Shaw, Sarah and Kirsty the team at parkside flexibles NPD team, where very encouraging and we discussed the tray form apperance so that the to film lid could be heat sealed.

The tray had to be the size and shape of their own tray too, as I don’t have the money to pay for new tooling to pay for a new tray design.

With the project just a month from finishing and easter break and fulltime work for me I’d better get my skates on… I Left the meeting and went home ( via Hepworth) to crack on with more modeling.

I used this tray to create copies, I had to workout materials first though.

As i only had one tray this was my solution to rapid prototype

The idea worked and i was able to decide what was the best consistency.

This rapid prototypes led to the implementation of layering, laminated inspired design, I did this to apply a glossy design on the inner, and keeping the fibrous look to the outer was intentional. I want the tray to look different, to stand out from plastic. I don’t want to add to the issues surrounding plastic free labeling and recycling waste contamination caused by confussing labling.

I used plates as a tray substitute to model the material, this annotation shows the possible capabilities and potential uses.
