First tray from areo style mold

This is the first tray prototype from the Areo Press coffee maker style mold.

It was the start, it was rough, and it did get better.

Amy gave feedback about the look, and it was suggested by Lauren Moriarty in a tutorial that the gerbil cadge floor look to the tray wasn’t an ideal selling point.

I really like modelling early on in projects, I find that mistakes are made early, fast and therefore with work the results can be rewarding.

Also having a physical thing helps dialogue when discussing a project.

For example I took a  tray with me when visiting the HW Martin waste plant, having a physical thing really helped discuss my project and what I was aiming to achieve, ultimately that lead to a fuel, not a recyclable.

The finished tray bares little resemblance to these early prototypes.

I find that these early botched attempts are what makes the projects succesful.

I’m not afraid to fail fast, and maybe look a bit silly. 

The Disk is there as a release function, so that in an assembly line the trays are easy to separate.

The tray was placed in the dehydrator to speed up the drying proccess.
