The company also work with councils throughout the U.K
It baffles me why the council curbside service changes so much.
The pages bellow screen grabs from diffrent councils have been cross refrence to show that it is only high quality paper and PET polymer that is collected across the U.K at curbside by councils.
Ater lengthy discussions with Alastair Little regional General Manager – Yorkshire at Biffa and researching waste sites; then also reading the book The future of packaging, Tom Szaky
My conclussion is that sustainability is buisness.
As Designers we need to be asking what is the material worth once is to a waste sorting site?, what can they sell it for? Can the product be sorted (considerations size, weight, material(s))
Not as is currently the question Can it be recycled [if we wave fairy dust over, and throw a tonne of money at it]?
Because of this sunday [I know i’m sad, the day before turning 41 does that to person] I started invetigatng Leeds council black bin waste. hurra Veolia a waste collection service that incinerats giving our waste another purpose… energy
