After reading books Mycelium running, Breaking point by Jeremy B.C Jackson and The Future of Packaging by Tom Szaky the direction of the packaging material is clear to me.

Packaging and its material should come from renewable sources, and once used as packaging should have at least one other purpose. this purpose could be compost, or fuel or used as a gift box.
 This image has clear signage telling the user which way, this style of simple infographic and simple written information should be on our packaging.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not this style which is confusing, the symbol looks like a recycling symbole but actually means that the packaging company make a donation to offset the damage of the packaging used,

Mushroom paper – The paper that I had infused with mycelium spores had been sitting dormant.

This experiment took the paper and covered it with soil and kept moist and placed on a window sill.

I wanted to test if the paper would harvest mushrooms in the home and in a simple way.

Mushroom growing is often difficult. Crag Worrell told me this so did my Friend Ben who is a gardener, but I wanted to test growing the mushrooms myself.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The experiment did fail, however, because of this trial and error ultimately the idea of packaging that grows inspired the living wall used at the end of year show, plus the concept of packaging that has a secondary use to grow herbs.

Ben told me about the theory of how the growing herbs would work.

The seed of a micro herb supports itself with nutrients from its own seed nucleus all it needs is water and light.
