Project 2 Year 3 Sketchbook 12 – Alternative tray annotation

This image taken from my Sketch book annotate the idea of trays that can be separated, an inner that holds the food, an outer that adds strength to the polymer inner. The sketch is showing that the tray can be easily separated.

I didn’t take this concept any further because

A) the idea has been executed by many packaging companies and

B) whilst some people may separate the try it’s just needles faf for a product that is supposed to be convenient.

This image shows possible materials. one of which is Aluminum. I like the idea of aluminum as it is indefinitely recyclable, however if it is put in the black bin waste then the aluminum resource is lost, plus when I spoke to Phil Hugget, Packaging design at Iceland, he stated that Aluminum is too costly for food trays and the weight is too great when considering transport. I’m not sure about this argument as aluminum is widely used to can pop drinks, and that market is very cost conscious.
